Omaha NE
This project was done while the house was still occupied. When we cut open the floor we took special care to have containment so we wouldn’t flood his house with dust. The room measured 10’x12’ and the most pertinent complication that arose from the initial build was there weren’t any studs in the walls downstairs. ( the previous home owners had glued the insulation to the block foundation then glued the drywall to that)
This meant that the power lines going to existing outlets were unprotected so you could put a nail through one of the cables going to an outlet. This was definitely not “to code”, as most new construction homes them feature steel plates that will go in the studs to protect the power cable from being punctured by a screw or nail.

In addition to this, the previous home owner used the wrong glue and it had created a chemical reaction to the foam board. This tended to eat away the foam board as the glue set up.
Finally, because the room had a duct work from his furnace, the door had to be customized to fit the space. I used international building code book that the city of Omaha adopted for regulations on single family residential homes.
